Why Your 2019 Headshot is Costing You 2026 Contracts

We are officially five years into the 'new' business landscape. Since 2020, we’ve seen business models flip, values shift, and the rise of the 'digital-first' meetings. But while our businesses have evolved, many LinkedIn profiles are still haunting us from a pre-pandemic world.
Realistically, people meet you on LinkedIn months before they talk to you. We want to make sure that before they jump on your video call, or meet you face to face that your photos are an up to date representation of the person they are going to be introduced to.
There is a psychological 'trust gap' that occurs when the person on the screen doesn't match the person in the profile. Whilst we take confidence in a selfie from a few years ago, when you show up with a 5-year-old photo, you're unintentionally signalling that your best years are behind you, or worse, that you aren't paying attention to the details.
Having daily conversations with business owners, entrepreneurs and creatives, I know that amongst the list of tasks, organising a photoshoot often falls down the list of priority list. The timing never quite seems right with current workload and needing a few more weeks to “get back into shape” before you can consider arranging a date, I have heard it all! But is there ever a good time? Or is the fear of stepping in front of the camera and getting yourself out there really what is holding you back.
A new set of photos keeps your personal brand looking fresh. For those who haven’t noticed you yet, it gives an opportunity to catch eyes with your content. And for those who do you follow you but perhaps become to familiar with your posts, it creates another chance to reengage with them.
A final consideration I’d love to share is that we’re constantly evolving. Your business is growing, you’re appealing to new clients every day and your values have perhaps even shifted to when you started. Let’s build a gallery of images that reflect the professional you are today, and not the one you were five years ago!
A great starting point is too book a video call. Click here to find a date and time that suits you, and cross ‘new headshots’ off the bottom of that task list. I’ll speak to you then!
